Greetings from Rinac.

I am pleased to communicate with our customers, partners and associates through this Quarterly Newsletter where we bring you a snapshot of where the cold chain industry is headed to, what Rinac has achieved lately and how Rinac is in a better position to cater to the distinct and dynamic needs of the Cold Chain and Clean Construction industries. As you are aware, the Cold Chain industry is deeply connected to the Food Processing, Agri and Logistics industries in India. And I am glad to let you know that the sentiments are very positive at the moment with these industries.

According to the report on India’s food processing industry released by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) at FoodPro, a food processing technology exhibition, the industry saw an 11% growth between Financial Years 2015 and 2020. The food processing industry is expected to reach USD 530 billion during the next five years. India has performed better than Brazil, US and China as of 2021 in terms of growth. But there is immense potential to unlock. India processes only 30% of its total meat production compared to Brazil (50% -60%) and the US (almost 90%). In fruits, India processes 5% of its production, compared to Brazil (35-40%) and the US (about 20%), the report reads.

Quality inconsistency, fragmented agriculture production, demand-supply mismatch, low penetration of technology, and supply chain issues like the availability of cold storage and warehousing facilities are the major barriers to the growth of the industry.
With more than 14% contribution to GDP, the Indian logistics industry is estimated to be valued at USD 200 billion. The Indian logistics industry is highly fragmented with more than 20 specialized entities and 37 export promotion organisations. Very often, this caused serious lapses in ensuring co-operation & coordination between them. This industry provides employment to more than 12 million people and is expected to grow at the rate of 10.5% over the next 5 years. With advancements in technologies, this industry is gradually shifting to embracing and adopting newer technologies. All these place the Indian logistics sector at a crucial juncture to remodel itself to suit the needs of the globalized world.

This is where the National Logistics Policy (NLP) 2022 becomes a game changer in India’s Logistics sector. Most Important among NLP 2022 objectives are 1. To achieve ‘quick last-mile delivery’ and 2. End transport-related challenges with process re-engineering, digitisation, and multi-modal transport. For this, Logistics costs have to be cut by half to be near global benchmarks by 2030 by reducing the cost of logistics from 14-18% of GDP to global best practices of 8%. Countries like the US, South Korea, Singapore, and certain European nations have such a low logistics cost-to-GDP ratio. The current cost is 16% of GDP. Being the 5th largest economy in the world, India aims to be among the top 10 in the LPI (Logistics Performance Index) by 2030. It has to match the pace of South Korea.

Many steps have been taken /being taken to achieve the vision of National Logistics policy. Turnaround of container vessels at ports has been reduced from 44 hours to 26 hours. New eco-friendly waterways are being setup, 40 air cargo terminals to facilitate exports, 30 airports have cold storage facilities, and 35 multi modal logistics facilities are being setup. What is the part Cold Chains are going to play in this Logistics plus food processing revolution in India? Well, first of all it is noteworthy that higher logistics cost is resulting in a competitiveness gap of $180 Bn and is expected to grow to $500Bn by 2030. India will have shortage of 100 MT of cold storage capacity and over 100,000 refrigerated trucks. With government’s active support this urgent need to fill this huge capacity gap can be achieved. This will bring India at par with its global peers.

Significant in this direction is the fact that 30 airports have been provided cold-storage facilities and Rinac is proud to be associated with 5 of them already- Delhi, Cochin ,Bangalore, Mumbai and Aizawl where we have set up perishable cargo cold chain units. The entire focus on increasing efficiency of Logistics systems in India provides huge opportunities for companies operating in Food processing, agriculture, retail and cold chain industries. This includes setting up cold chain, cold storage facilities, clean construction, cold rooms, ripening chambers, milk processing facilities, food processing facilities, agri produce processing facilities, refrigerated trucks etc.

Coming to Rinac, we continue to carve success stories in conceptualizing, designing, manufacturing, installing and commissioning of turn-key cold chain projects and clean construction solutions for Horticulture , Milk and Milk Products Seafood, Meat, Poultry, Ready-To-Eat, Hospitality , Healthcare, Pharma, Warehousing and refrigerated logistics and other related industries. We have successfully completed and handed over a large, state-of-the-art integrated Cold chain and clean modular construction facility for processing of Fruits and vegetables (Frozen Foods) from concept to completion on a turnkey basis. It’s worthwhile to mention that this projects is conceived and completed encompassing the honorable prime minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharath Initiative.

Another important development is the Inauguration and Pooja of the new facility for Rinac Centre for Excellence and Training (RCET).The new facility was inaugurated by our Jt. Managing Director Mr. P Sukumaran. This centre strives for nothing but excellence. RCET aims to turn beginners into experts with in-depth knowledge in refrigeration and insulation. As we take our baby steps, RCET is geared to provide you with the best possible knowledge in learning the A to Z of refrigeration. I would like to also introduce R Anish Simha, the Head of RCET to you .He is an Engineering Graduate with more than 25 yrs of experience in the Refrigeration Industry. He is the Presidential Member of Association of Ammonia Refrigeration, AAR, Past President ASHRAE Bangalore Chapter, Refrigeration Chair, ASHRAE Region at Large, Refrigeration Chair, ISHRAE Ref Committee, etc .Under his able leadership, Rinac plans to take this venture to greater heights and plug the gap of having qualified cold chain professionals not just for Rinac but the cold chain industry as a whole.
Rinac has recently launched a Dealer enrolment program where we are inviting companies and professionals from refrigeration, cold chain or allied industries to enrol as dealers to promote our catalogued/standard products such as Modular / walk-in /Step-in cold rooms and freezers, Insulated PUF & PIR panels, doors forcold rooms and clean construction, Refrigerated trucks and vans etc.

JANIeco, our Easy-to-install, water-conserving, automated toilets that can be helpful to Public Toilets, Hotels and restaurants, Residential areas, Workplace, Hospitals etc is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be operational next quarter. Rinac won the Markesmendaily.com Brand of the Year 2022 award in the Innovation Category and also Times of India Award for the Best Innovator in the Cold Chain category. We participated actively and interacted with audience of Foodpro 2022 at Chennai, IDF World Dairy Summit ’22 at Delhi and CII Agri & Food Processing Conclave Bangalore. We also co-presented an event at Calicut on Clean Modular Construction through Rinac Connect, an exclusive educational interaction with our customers in collaboration with our partner KPG Roofings.

Temperature-controlled Cold Warehouse for TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited

The Facility is a temperature-controlled warehouse of approx. 1240 sqm and 6 m in height, for storage of cosmetic products. It has a storage capacity of  approx. 305 MT, maintained at +22+2 Deg C temperature. The walls and ceiling are constructed with insulation PUF panels with sliding doors on the ground  floor level and swing-type doors on level 1. Freon-based air-cooled refrigeration units are used to maintain the desired temperature
