Overview

India is one of the world's largest producers of mangoes, yet access to premium international markets depends on far more than cultivation. Export success requires compliance with strict phytosanitary regulations, fruit fly disinfestation, cold chain integrity, traceability, grading accuracy, post-harvest handling excellence and documentation that satisfies importing countries. RINAC India Limited delivers a complete ecosystem for mango exporters through integrated export packhouses, refrigeration systems, pre-cooling facilities, cold stores, ripening chambers, grading lines and advanced FruitoLine Humidified Hot Air Treatment (HHAT) and Vapour Heat Treatment (VHT) systems. With more than three decades of engineering expertise, RINAC provides turnkey solutions from concept to commissioning. By combining post-harvest science, process engineering, automation, refrigeration, clean construction and export infrastructure, RINAC helps growers and exporters gain access to high-value global markets.

Understanding Vapour Heat Treatment (VHT)

Vapour Heat Treatment uses hot humidified air to eliminate fruit fly eggs and larvae. The process exposes fruit to carefully controlled temperature and humidity conditions that elevate internal fruit temperature without causing heat damage.

Unlike chemical fumigation methods, VHT leaves no chemical residues. Temperature, humidity and treatment duration are automatically controlled and recorded to ensure treatment effectiveness, repeatability and complete traceability. The technology is recognised internationally as a safe, reliable and environmentally responsible quarantine treatment solution.

FruitoLine HHAT Technology

FruitoLine HHAT represents RINAC’s advanced approach to thermal disinfestation. The system uses controlled heat and humidity to raise the internal pulp temperature of mangoes while protecting flavour, freshness, colour and nutritional characteristics.

The process typically raises fruit pulp temperature to approximately 46–48°C while maintaining humidity above 95%. Continuous monitoring and automated controls ensure treatment consistency. Following treatment and holding phases, fruits undergo cooling and drying processes that stabilise quality and prepare them for storage and export.

The Opportunity in Global Mango Exports

Global demand for safe, premium-quality fruit continues to grow. Consumers increasingly seek chemical-free produce with high traceability and superior shelf life. At the same time, importing countries have strengthened quarantine requirements to prevent the spread of invasive pests and diseases.

Mangoes are particularly vulnerable because fruit fly infestation can lead to shipment rejection and market restrictions. Vapour Heat Treatment (VHT) and Humidified Hot Air Treatment (HHAT) technologies have emerged as internationally accepted quarantine treatment methods that eliminate fruit fly eggs and larvae without relying on chemical fumigation. Exporters can therefore comply with international regulations while preserving fruit quality, colour, flavour, texture and nutritional value

Benefits of HHAT/VHT Technology
Solutions

  • Reduced rejection rates

  • Improved compliance with international standards
  • Reduced risk of shipment rejection
  • Better documentation and traceability
  • Enhanced market access

  • Chemical-free treatment
  • Better quality fruit
  • Improved food safety

  • Reduced reliance on chemical fumigation
  • Sustainable processing practices
  • Lower environmental impact

Why Modern Mango Exporters Need Advanced Infrastructure

A modern export operation requires much more than packing fruit into cartons. Exporters must maintain a controlled process from orchard to destination market. Critical requirements include pest disinfestation, export-quality grading and sorting, shelf-life preservation, cold chain management, traceability, documentation and compliance with international protocols.

A single fruit fly detection can disrupt international trade and result in significant financial losses. Advanced infrastructure reduces risk while improving operational efficiency and export acceptance rates.
